This brochure contains a number of Nordic examples of innovative eco-friendly technologies developed by Nordic enterprises. The Nordic ministers for the Environment have decided to single out a number of areas where we believe the Nordic countries are world pioneers regarding eco-innovation, although many more examples and themes could have been chosen. The areas chosen for this brochure are: innovative shipping technology, energy-efficient and environmentally sound buildings and biologically based growth. Such technologies contribute to the lisbon process, which aims to make the EU the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-driven economy by 2010, by decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation and damage to public health – an ambition which should be clear to all policy makers.
