Seals in the Baltic Sea: A threath, or a richness and resource
Responsible organisation
2007 (English)Other (Other (popular science, discussion, etc.))
Abstract [en]

The Baltic grey and ringed seal populations are rapidly increasing and they are said to threaten the small scale fishery, Could grey seals be a resource as well - like they were in the early days? The seal-fishery conflict in the Baltic Sea is extremely severe and touches most of the countries bordering the Baltic Sea. This film brings the fragment-ed pieces of a complex puzzle together and attempts to find sustainable and commonly accepted solutions to mitigate the problem. In total 76 interviews of stakeholders were carried out in 2005-2006 in the countries around the Baltic Sea.This film is produced for ordinary people, experts and administrators interested in the seal-fishery conflict. The outcome does not represent the view of any specific institution or nation. This DVD includes: &quot,Seals in the Baltic Sea&quot, (the film 49:24) &quot,A trailer&quot, (a conference version, ca. 10:00)
