BANSAI - The BAltic and North Sea marine environmental modelling Assessment Initiative The report presents results obtained with a preliminary method of assessment. The assessment results depend much on the threshold values used for the classification of eutrophication status. One should note that the threshold values used here will be discussed and revised for the next report. The conclusions of the present report also points out other issues that will be improved of the assessment method for the third year joint report from the BANSAI project in 2007. The present assessment of eutrophication status according to the integration of the categorized assessment parameters indicate that the entire southern and eastern part of the North Sea and the Kattegat-Skagerrak area may, with small exceptions, be classified as problem areas. The rest of the North Sea is classified as non-problem areas except for parts of the east coast of Great Britain and the northern Atlantic waters which are classified as potential problem areas. A smaller area in the northeastern Great Britain is also classified as a problem area.
