The purpose of the study is to showcase good practices, promote cooperation, build knowledge, and facilitate exchanges of experiences, thereby contributing to strengthening the Nordic countries' ability to conduct effective and appropriate work against waste crime. The study, initiated in February 2024, focused on understanding the supervisory systems of the Nordic countries and their efforts in combating illegal waste management. It comprised four interconnected parts: a literature review, interviews, a workshop, and a final report. The findings of the study are compared and analyzed in three different chapters: waste crimes, supervisory authorities, and main themes.
