The Bioeconomy Programme “Bioeconomy as a driver for economic growth and green transition in rural areas in the Nordic Region” was initiated by the Nordic Council of Ministers to strengthen the sustainable use of bioresources, promote economic growth and social sustainability in rural areas, and enhance the competitiveness of Nordic and Baltic bioeconomy sectors. Within the programme, several analytical reports and policy briefs were commissioned from external experts. This summary report, developed by the steering group, synthesises the main findings from these publications and presents recommendations to the Nordic Council of Ministers, emphasizing the need for profitable value chains, knowledge sharing, and the dissemination of best practices across the Nordic-Baltic region.
