Space is not just about presence, control and power, but also a matter of building competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy. It is about the Nordic region’s ability to stand on our own, protect critical infrastructure and create new industries.
In 2025, the Nordic ministers for trade and industry signed a joint declaration for closer cooperation on space-related activities, with a focus on innovation, security and competitiveness.
The Nordic countries already have strong space industries. But if we want to compete with nations such as the United States and China, we need to stand together as one single region. Only then can we create an ecosystem that few regions in the world can match. This report helps us to kick-start that work.
By mapping the space capabilities and gaps in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, the report provides us with the knowledge base and recommendations needed to create stronger Nordic space collaboration. The report shows us how the different Nordic strengths can play together and create common value.
