The Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) of EU sets up recycling benchmarks for strategic raw materials that cannot be met without radical changes to how such materials are recovered after use. There is an urgent need for improved technological solutions that allow better collection and sorting of waste streams that can serve as feedstock for recycling operations that recover strategic and critical raw materials. As a rule, these recycling processes also need to become more efficient and must be able to recover a larger number of individual materials than what is possible today. This second report continues the discussion on how the Nordic region can improve secondary value chains for critical raw materials and presents a more detailed description of a series of relevant measures and instruments that can give the Nordic region a leading role in this crucial endeavor.
