Restoration of wetlands and rewetting of drained peatlands, has come to play an important role to stop environmental degradation and reduce carbon emissions. The EU also puts more pressure on member states through regulation. This report examines the current rewetting policy instruments and their impacts on wetland restoration across the Nordics. While Nordic rewetting initiatives share goals such as climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and water management, they differ in priorities and implementation due to national circumstances.
