In addition to the regular publications on social protection in the Nordic countries, NOSOSCO also publishes various more comprehensive reports, the so-called theme reports. In this report, a comparative study of the pension systems in the Nordic countries is described.
The report touches on the consequences of ageing populations and the resulting provision problem.Development in the increased life expectancy, the pensionable age and the participation rate of the older members of the labour force is analyzed. In some typical cases, a calculation is made of how large a percentage of the pay the pension constitutes.
The situation in the Nordic countries wil be contrasted with the situation in other European countries (the EU), from which can be seen that even if the ratio of people over 65 years increases sharply in the Nordic countries, the ratio will increase even more sharply in many of the other EU countries.
Apart from the analyzing sections, the book describes how the pension systems work in the Nordic countries.
